Katarina Wit first started skating at five. It was not long before her abilities became apparent and then in Karl-Marx-Stadt she enrolled in a school specifically for kids with athletic abilities. In this school she met her trainer Jutta Muler. Witt became a star in 1982, after she was second in her first World Championships at Copenhagen. Since then, her grace and beauty have captured all the attention of people. Olympic success at the Sarajevo Winter Games of 1984, Katarina Witz won the women's gold medal in figure skating after an intense contest. Four years later, the event, she was able to claim an additional tighter race. She actually lost the free skating competition, but was awarded the gold medal based upon her results in the compulsory figures and the short program. Witt was the first repeated woman to win the women's figure skating since Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt, who was a star in the film industry as an actor, returned for figure skating, competed in the Lillehammer Winter Games 1994. Although she didn't get a medal, she enchanted her audience despite placing seventh. Witt's admission into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame was held in 1995.
